Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Lauryn Grubbs is a multidisciplinary artist and graduate student in the Apparel Design doctoral program at Cornell University. Her research focuses on the representation of Black women throughout US American visual culture, specifically looking at the intersection of fashion, arts and design, and media. Lauryn investigates the impact of these representations on Black women’s body image, identity formation, and societal perception connecting her research to her creative and entrepreneurial ventures. As a result, she aims to advocate and platform Black, female artists and designers in order to diversify and decolonize the US media landscape.
